Lovingly restored old villa, heated pool, garden, sea views | Quinta Girassol

Lovely property and good location. The pool is great and very useful to have the option to have it heated. The beds are comfy and the house is quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is well designed and the fridge has the option for cubed or crushed ice, which is a winner for us! We will book again to stay here next visit. Thank you.

EIne sehr schöne Villa, mit guter Einrichtung, mit voll ausgestattete Küche, Grill, Pool, super Aussicht usw.. Wir waren 4 Personen (2 Erw., 2 Kinder 12 + 16 Jahre), haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

This was a lovely stay in the very nice villa with 5 persons. The road is quite near to the ground, though parking in with a large car is a bit challenging. We ordered a heated pool, but it seams to be a bit cold. The kitchen is a dream, if you want to cook a lot as we did. Breakfast was always outside, we enjoyed the stay very much. Walking downtown is not far away, but a bit steep, be aware of this. Fully said, it was a wonderful stay

Beautifully restored and maintained house. Well equipped with comfortable gathering areas inside and out and many thoughtful touches. Only downside is blind entrance/exit from parking area onto sharp curve - we always had someone stand across road to let us know when it was safe to back out! Short (but steep!) walk to town for restaurants.

If you decided to stay here, you'll definitely have to rent a car. Because there's no bus that go directly to (or from) this villa. The location is a bit tricky to find but once you found it, then it's not a problem anymore. Overall it was a nice villa with a nice view to the ocean. It's clean. It has 3 bedrooms (one kingsize bed, one queensize bed (both are connected by the balcony) and two single beds), two nice bathroom (one with a view and ine with jacuzzi). One restroom downstairs. Towels and bedsheets are all clean. The kitchen has a complete cooking utensils. The wifi is unfortunately only available downstairs. The pool was nice and clean. We had luck that it's still warm in November, so we didn't need it to be warmed. But it could be warmed by request. It has a garden and a gardener comes once a week. The lady who manage this house was very nice and helpful. They provided you the basic needs (bread, milk, cheese) as you arrive and just for one time. You could buy your daily needs on the supermarket located on the petrol station. Funchal is around 30 minutes car drives and the airport around 45 minutes.

An absolutely perfect holiday destination tucked away in the beautiful hills of Ponta Do Sol. There are fantastic local restaurants nearby, beautiful views from the Villa, and I would love to go back. I'd recommend the natural swimming pools in the Northwest of the island at Porto Moniz, and visiting the 3rd highest point on the island Pico do Arieiro to watch the sunrise. A car is a must in Madeira, and the villa has its own private gated parking space. The pool is beautiful not overlooked and feels very private, the villa is beautifully decorated and kept. Highly recommended to all and would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

We very much enjoyed our stay, it was a very peaceful and relaxing place with stunning views. The villa was beautiful and clean. The only point we would recommend is to hire a car as the supermarket is at the bottom of the hill and the public transport isn't easy to work out.

Quinta Girassol is a lovely place. The view and area is amazingly beautiful and the pool is great. It was just not what we expected from the pictures. It is a great airbnb and the pool really hightens the value. The green area and the inside of the house is not as luxurious and spacious as we thought though. The house is really cold and doesnt come with many heating options and the furnitures are not very comfy. So the place was definitely at is best in sunny weather where we could stay outside and enjoy the pool.

Property is one of the best we have stayed in. Like every property it has its minor niggles and annoyances however go beyond that and you find a wonderful holiday home. The kitchen is well equipped, albeit a knife sharpener would be a welcome addition. The bedrooms are airy and spacious and the bathrooms are both excellent. The lounge we didn't really use as we liked the kitchen/dining area or either of the two terraces. The property is south facing. In the morning the sun is on your left allowing early sun bathing or, in the afternoon, the sun is to the right to do more. The swimming pool is neither very big nor very deep but it is lovely to simply slip into to cool off. When fitting the pool cover in the evening, ensure the winding wheel is to the house side of the pool and it is placed across from the semi-circular steps. The house is really easy to find.... Once you know where it is! From Funchall airport as you arrive into Ponta do Sol there is a roundabout with a BP garage on the left. Take the 3rd exit up a hill and over three or four speed bumps with chequer board markings to a roundabout where, again, you take the 3rd exit up another hill. A garage with a green door will come to you on the left. Slow down and prepare to pull onto a short concrete driveway around a right hand corner and just before a zebra crossing. If you go over the crossing, you've gone too far. The name Girassola is on a plaque on a wall to the right hand side of a green metal sliding door. There is no doubt we will do this again in the same quinta. Thank you.

A very nice, high standard villa. Beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms with comfortable beds. Cosy traditional living room. Well equipped kitchen. Outside, it was a pleasure to sit on the veranda and admire the view out to sea. It's walking distance, uphill, to the village. We didn't walk down to Punto do Sol, but it's an easy 5min drive. Our only complaint, is that there's a problem with ants in the kitchen and nothing could be left out on the units. We think the problem is that there's a leak under the sink somewhere as it did have a strong damp smell. This wouldn't put us off in staying again, but is something that needs looking at. All in all, a beautiful villa.

The house is beautifully cared for and well equipped. The information book left by the owner was very complete and quite helpful. We enjoyed the porch at all times of the day and found the location perfect for exploring levadas on all parts of the island.

Despite the pictures we were unprepared for the stunning setting and superb property. We needed nothing more for our perfect winter sun holiday. The position is excellent for a Madeiran experience. Close to all amenities but not too close. ( We hired a car for the duration and explored the island. The car parking arrangement is a bit of an "adventure" until you get used to it) The walk up from Ponta do Sol is not for the faint hearted but Nelson Lala provides an excellent taxi service 24 hours a day. The infinity pool was great, yes even in February! The house was well equipped for us to cook if we wanted with inside and outside seating options but there is plenty of choice locally to dine out.

From the photographs online and reviews we had read, we had great expectations of Quinta Girassol and we are happy to report the reality did not disappoint! The setting is just idyllic - high up above the town with breathtaking views. A few reviews commented that the road was noisy, but we didn't find this at all as the villa is set above road level so it really wasn't a problem. The villa itself is stunning and well equipped with everything you could need. Tastefully decorated and furnished with luxurious bed linen, the villa interiors are beautiful. That being said we spent most of our time outdoors, as the gardens of the villa are stunning; the ground floor terrace provides shade and is a perfect place to dine, the upper floor terrace offers incredible views and the pool offers a welcome cool off from the glorious sun! Madeira itself is also a revelation - this was our first time on the island and it has so much to offer that we feel like we only just scratched the surface - mainly due to the fact we loved the Villa so much that we didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back and look forward to spending more time at Quinta Girassol and exploring Madeira.

Wir hatten einen tollen Urlaub. Das Haus ist genauso, wie es angeboten wird, super ausgestattet, sehr sauber , einfach das richtige für einen schönen Urlaub. Allerdings ist die Straße darunter etwas laut. Wir würden sofort wieder buchen

Wir haben im April 2018 zehn herrliche Urlaubstage in dieser wunderschönen Villa mit einem traumhaften Blick auf das Meer und umgeben von Bananengärten verbracht und wären gerne länger geblieben. Das Haus ist sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet. Bis zum Meer, der Tankstelle mit Lebensmittelmarkt und Bäcker sind es nur wenige Minuten bergab. Der Empfang mit Schlüsselübergabe und die gesamte Abwicklung war sehr nett und umkompliziert. Danke und wir kommen bestimmt mal wieder.

We found the house to be very beautiful, with a stunning, commanding view of the ocean. The house itself is very well equipped and decorated beautifully with taste! I read a review here about noise but for us we were not bothered by this, wherever you are in Madeira you can hear some cars, we have been coming to Madeira for 9 years and for us this place is the best we have rented to date, you can't beat its location, the pool, the outside dining area and the exquisite gardens. Beds are quality and linens too which is important to me! Would recommend the Whale watching in Calheta and of course the numerous Levada walks.

This was our first time in Madeira, so decided to stay in Ponta do Sol, which we think was a good move as the weather seems to be always much better there. We had a great stay at this Villa, it was far better equipped than expected, everything you need is there, even blenders, juice makers etc etc. It is beautifully furnished and the gardens for us were the best part, landscaped and with stunning views over the sea. Vanda and the Managers were super helpful throughout, so would highly recommend staying in Ponta do Sol and this wonderful Villa!

This villa was top notch and perfect for our week long stay. Amazing views, private, and quiet are always the best boxes to check and they all are here and then some. The beds were very comfortable and with quality linens. Since our visit was in March, we didn't really get to enjoy the pool, as it was a bit too cool outside most of the time to use. But is a lovely infinity pool and the water is kept at a nice temperature. The gourmet kitchen was fantastic and had everything one would need while cooking. We did not have the same problems with plumbing as mentioned before, so maybe some things were repaired. We were also surprised there were not more reviews, but were told that although this villa has had a long standing 5 star rating, but a new property management was recently hired, and all of the old reviews were lost in the process...so don't let the lack of reviews sway a decision - the place is excellent and I would highly recommend it a stay in it while exploring this beautiful island!
