hills above Funchal, Babosas Village is a beautifully furnished
character property with eight spacious 1-bedroom apartments, a
restaurant, bar and reception, complemented by personal service
from its attentive team led by Ricardo and Sónia. Once a 19th century
hotel which then became a special needs school and has been long
closed, the full rebuild and refurbishment, which combines
traditional architecture with a contemporary style, has resulted in
spacious lovely apartments, all with a lounge and
kitchenette, separate bedroom, shower-room,
air-conditioning/heating and veranda. The charming Páteo das Babosas
restaurant and coffee shop features an indoor section with
wood-burner, a large front terrace with views to Funchal and the
sea and a separate beautiful traditional covered veranda. Open from
09H00 to 22H00 (last orders at 21H00), it serves breakfast, snacks
and hot dishes all day, afternoon teas, and an à la carte evening
meal menu. Perfect for a quiet read or
contemplation, there is a large common terrace for guests,
with some sun-loungers and seating area and views to Funchal and
the sea. A small reception is there to
welcome you on arrival. Situated on the quaint and narrow
street that leads from the Babosas square past the gardens, the
famous church and wicker toboggans to the old square, Babosas
Village is perfectly located for visiting the Monte gardens and for
the surrounding walks, yet with easy access to the capital Funchal

Groot appartement met prachtig uitzicht. Appartement is bovendien zeer schoon. Daarnaast kun je goed (en niet duur) eten in het restaurant, waarbij Ricardo en Hugo je steeds goed verwelkomen en je niet zullen laten weggaan zonder een lekkere Madeira (dessert)wijn te geven. Overigens is het een uitdagende weg om bij de locatie te komen, maar aan de hand van de tips van Hugo ga je zonder problemen de berg op en af (vraag naar het busrooster en Hugo helpt je verder).
Tout le cadre la situation le petit déjeuner excellent la gentillesse du personnel très à l'écoute on peut manger à n'importe quelle heure de la journée hôtel très bien situé tout en étant excentre car bien desservi par le téléphérique le bus numéro 22 et les taxis.

Als wir über die steilen Straßen ankamen, dachte ich ehrlich gesagt, ich habe uns im Gipfelrestaurant der Seilbahn in Monte eingebucht - Riccardo empfing uns herzlich und zeigte uns unsere Wohneinheit mit Terrasse, Küche, Schlafzimmer & Wohnbereich (Kunderschlafbereich) und einem geräumigen Bad - alles super sauber und gepflegt, wie die ganze Anlage. Hervor sticht aber die unglaubliche Umsichtigkeit und Freundlichkeit des Personals, die auch für Vielreisende äußerst ungewöhnlich ist - nämlich auch nie aufdringlich! Der absolute Hammer ist das Frühstück- direkt zum Tisch serviert - jeden Tag Variationen und immer mit viel frischem Obst, Brot und Eivariationen - man sitzt auf der eigens gesperrten Terrasse des Restaurants, welches zudem auch noch empfehlenswert ist. Qualität der Gastfreundschaft ist nicht zu übertreffen!
Do not hesitate to book this amazing place, the staff are top class, so accommodating and friendly. The apartment bright, airy and very clean with nice welcoming touches. Lovely views over Funchal which can be reached by taking the cable car and the wonderful Monte gardens just round the corner. We did not realize breakfast is included in the price, and what an amazing breakfast too. Fully cooked offering, with fruit & cakes and lovely fresh orange juice. Very convenient they serve food all day with something for every one on the menu. Again a special mention to the staff who were without exception brilliant

Not big hotel. Popular at the day time bacause of the food first and of the place second. Very friendly staff,always ready to help and answer all the questions, we arived about 22.15 PM, called to hotel after leaving airport as they have asked and one of the staff members was waiting us even in the street... hited car parking included. good comunication from the first minute of booking, perfect breakfast with always smiling and helpful staf, super atmospher always around. De kleinschaligheid heel comfortabele kamer. Heerlijk aparte slaapkamer en fijne living. Prachtige locatie. Als de kabelbaan sluit is het heerlijk rustig. Overdag veel toeristen die jaloers naar ons balkon keken....we huurden auto maar gingen eigenlijk vaak met kabelbaan en of bus taxi. Alles voorhanden. Het ontbijt is het beste wat ik in jaren heb geproefd. Alles naar je eigen smaak wordt door de keuken vers. Echt vers bereid. Bedankt voor heerlijke dagen.
Wir können diese Unterkunft sehr empfehlen. Wir haben uns unglaublich wohl gefühlt. Tolle Appartements, tolle Einrichtung, alles sehr sehr sauber. Das Frühstück und Abendessen im Restaurant ist auch sehr sehr lecker. Wir waren jeden Abend dort essen und sind nicht nach Funchal gefahren um dort etwas zu essen. Top Preis-Leistung. Die Straßen nach Monte sind kurvig und eng,aber man gewöhnt sich daran, Der Weg zur Unterkunft lohnt sich aber- Es ist einfach super und ruhig da oben. Wir konnten uns sehr gut erholen und haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Ganz tolles Personal!!!!! Wir hatten eine Menge Spaß .
Amazing location just what we needed. The room was more than we expected, large lounge/diner/kitchen, enormous bed and large bathroom. The breakfast was fresh, different every day and plentiful. The staff were exceptional, very welcoming and friendly and the service was impeccable. The restaurant is a hidden gem, fantastic chef, food and wine, great for a lunch on the sunny terrace or a cosy evening meal with table clothes and linen napkins and very attentive staff aiming to please. T bone steak, lamb chops, steak picante, Caesar salad, creme brûlée highlights for us, but there are plenty of fresh pizzas, pastas, fish and meat dishes on the menu. We will definitely return and with friends and recommend. I deal location if you want a bit of peace, relaxation, fresh air and away from it all. Ideal for walks and the Palace and Gardens. An dieser Unterkunft hat uns einfach alles gefallen. An erster Stelle die wirklich mehr als netten Angestellten, wirklich alle kümmern sich liebevoll und herzlich um jeden Gast ohne einmal aufdringlich zu sein. Die Zimmer sind sehr modern und super sauber. Man hat alles was man braucht. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und super frisch. Obwohl man im Zimmer kochen kann, hat uns Hugo und seine Küchenmannschaft die Frage wo wir essen wollen immer sehr leicht gemacht. Super leckeres Dinner zu vernünftigen Preisen. Auch wenn man tagsüber mal nicht die schöne Natur genießt kann man wunderbar Lunch oder Teatime machen. Die Lage ist super ruhig und perfekt mit dem Bus oder der Seilbahn zu erreichen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.
