Garden and house are a real delight and all of us felt very much welcome and at home. the house has been carefully and thoughtfully improved since our last stay 5 years ago, without losing it's unique charm. the roar of the sea are all you hear at night. access to the house is via a very steep drive, quite daunting at first. a small car is highly recommended. With our party of 7, having rented the cottage too, that connects to the main house via the garden. we hope to come again.

Heureusement que Bruno a été présent pour notre arrivée car la descente vers la maison est très abrupte et nous avions la frousse. Nous étions une grande famille et par la force des chose, avec une voiture de grande dimension. Si vous pouvez, comme mentionné opter pour une plus petite voiture c'est beaucoup mieux. La communication avec l'hôte est rapide et efficace. Notre famille avec 4 grands enfants ont trouvé l'endroit exceptionnel! L'espace intimité pour chacune des chambres, les confort et les accessoires étaient parfait. Nous avons passé une magnifique semaine dans cette résidence loin de l'agitation de la ville. Madère est une île à découvrir et cette villa est parfaite pour y résider pendant son séjour.

My family of 4 (children 7, 9) stayed here for 6 nights in July. Absolutely perfect place for a family. The garden/pool area is beautiful. Check-in was easy as Bruno met us nearby and escorted us onto the property, showing us how everything worked and how to get down to the "beach" house. My kids enjoyed use of the pool every day and we all loved watching sunsets from the patio. The pool in July was perfect temperature. No need to ask to heat it. Upon arrival, the hosts had a bottle of wine, fruits, and milk waiting for us. There is a barbecue area to use, but also only a 5 min drive in either direction to good restaurants. Don't fret about past guests mentioning the road down to the property - while narrow, it is nothing to be concerned about. And it provides the privacy that makes this place so special. The AC was effective and kept us cool at night. I will add that there is a short path past the beach gate that eventually leads around the bluff to an awesome spot to watch sunset.

Absolute paradise. We especially loved the garden and plants, surrounding and the outdoor spaces. The garden really makes this place special. We really enjoyed just sitting and watching the ocean and local farmers/fisherman, and listening to the noisy carrega all night. Track from road to villa is very steep and tricky to use, caught the wing mirror on the rocks, so we ended up parking cars at the top and got our workout in walking up! Wouldn't recommend for people with mobility issues though. Meeting Bruno and his escort to the villa was so helpful, and a great introduction of the place. Overall, we're in love and I would definitely recommend, we are already looking at dates and will be back next year! Thank you so much!

Absolut wundervoller Blick aufs Meer. Villa ist sauber und sehr geräumig. Der Pool ist riesig und hat einen traumhaften Blick auf das Meer. Ich kann die Villa absolut weiterempfehlen. WLAN und Ausstattung waren ebenfalls super. Zur Villa gehört zudem ein kleines Strandhaus mit privatem Zugang. Der Eigentümer war sehr nett und gut erreichbar. Wir kommen auf jedenfall gerne wieder.

Wir können diese Villa nur empfehlen, ein unglaublich besonderer Ort mit tollen Möglichkeiten. ...Allein der Ausblick morgens beim Frühstück!! Wir haben uns wirklich sehr wohlgefühlt und es genossen. Allerdings waren wir auch nur zu zweit und man muss wissen, dass es ein sehr helles freundliches Schlafzimmer gibt und die anderen eher dunkler sind, muss man dann untereinander auslosen wer, in das helle darf....Die Kommunikation mit Bruno war sehr freundlich und zuverlässig. Ein wirklich besonderer magischer Ort!

Sehr schönes Haus mit wunderbarem Garten, Pool und Aussicht aufs Meer. Strandhaus und eigener Zugang zum Strand. Nicht von den Steinen abschrecken lassen, das Wasser ist herrlich. Die Fahrt von der Straße über den Privatweg zum Haus ist nichts für Fahranfänger ( steil und eng ). Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche verbracht, danke auch an Bruno. Unbedingt die Restautants des Eigentümers besuchen,es lohnt sich.

Me and my friends had an amazing week in Madeira. Villa Do Mar I takes your breath away. The pool, the views, the daily sun, the house itself... Everything was where it was supposed to be; the rooms had all the comfort you might need. The villa is located in a very quiet area, so the only things you hear are the waves. Sometimes workers come for the banana trees or for the new constructions, but it's still quiet. Even though the acces was indeed steep and narrow, that wasn't a problem at all. After a few times, you get used to it. But at the end of this road, you truly find a piece of heaven. The island it's so beautiful, more beautiful than expected. We rented a car (which is a must- Our Madeira helped with that) and visited the entire island. North, South, East and West, as much as we could. But a lot of things still left "untouched". We already think about next year and plan the next trip to Madeira and to Villa do Mar I, which we'll love to have again. We also loved that the house has around a family of cats with kittens, which made our holiday even more beautiful and made us feel like home (we are animal lovers and have pets as well). We bought some cat food for them and we truly hope that the others to come, will do the same and feed the souls that live there. We have to take care of one another. Beautiful Villa, stunning location, the photos do not do it justice. However you would need to be a highly experienced driver to manage the very steep road to and from the villa.

We spent a very relaxing week with our 12 year old daughter in this amazing place. The villa has everything you need, the heated and illuminated pool was the best we ever had, the property is a beautiful tropical garden, the view absolutely amazing. We actually didn't really want to leave this paradise to buy some groceries or do some sightseeing. Our daily adventure was the steep and narrow path from the main street to the house. Nothing for the faint-hearted and only recommended for self confident drivers. We highly recommend a small and nimble car. Very friendly owner who passes by every other day to clean the pool himself and always left some freshly picked fruits from the garden at the doorstep. The Barbeque is weatherproof and the table beside it has a roof. And there is even a special device to prepare espetadas and serve them at the table. A small pathway leads from the villa to the beach with a lovely beach-house. To make a long story short: It couldn't have been any better!

Wir verbrachten zu zweit zwei Wochen in der Villa Do Mar auf Madeira. Die Villa und der Garten sind wie auf den Bildern zu sehen. Der Platz war natürlich mit der geringen Belegung mehr als ausreichend. Die besondere Lage der Villa auf Madeira mit vorderseitig dem Meer und rückseitig der Felswand führt zu sehr angenehmen Temperaturen auch im Januar. Die Temperaturen fielen nachts gefühlt nie unter 18 - 20 Grad und waren sicher einige Grade höher als zur gleichen Zeit in Funchal oder Calheta. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Unterstützung vor Ort durch die Ansprechpartner (Alberto als Besitzer und Rodrigues als dessen rechte Hand). Eine derartige hervorragende Unterstützung in allen Belangen habe ich bisher in noch keinem Urlaub erlebt. Die Anfahrt zur Villa ist schon besonders, sehr eng und sehr steil - selbst für Madeiraverhältnisse. Nach ein paar Fahrten hat man sich aber daran gewöhnt. Hier ein kleiner Tipp: vor dem Losfahren einmal kurz hupen, damit eventueller Gegenverkehr auch ein Signal geben kann. Man fährt erst los, wenn der Weg wieder frei ist (zweimaliges Hupen des Fahrers sobald man angekommen ist). Umdrehen oder rückwärts Fahren ist auf keinen Fall anzuraten. Auf Anfrage war es möglich unseren kleinen Hund mitzunehmen, aber Vorsicht, es ist Rattengift im Garten ausgelegt. Der Pool wird jeden Tag vom Besitzer früh am morgen akribisch gereinigt, hat uns nie gestört. Poolheizung hatten wir verwendet - dadurch schöne Badetemperatur, wenn auch 24 Grad sicher nur knapp am Mittag und bei Sonneneinstrahlung erreicht werden. Die Küche ist ausreichend aber nicht sehr gut mit Grundzutaten ausgestattet. Alle Gewürze oder Spülmaschinentabs etc. sind selbst zu besorgen - hier wäre etwas mehr schön. Einkaufen ist in Caletha in wenigen Minuten Fahrzeit möglich. Die Restaurants des Besitzers sind auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen, wir wurden vom Besitzer auch jedesmal sehr nett persönlich begrüßt. Der Transport zu den beiden Lokalen (einmal Fisch und einmal Fleisch) wird organisiert - bei Anmeldung am frühen Nachmittag, allerdings ist die Villa etwa 30 Minuten Fahrzeit von den Restaurants entfernt.

We love hidden places nestled amidst nature and this house is a dream. The garden is even prettier than on the photos and you can choose between a bunch of different corners to stretch out, eat or enjoy the surroundings. Don't miss the little barbecue house right on the beach! We invited friends and had a wonderful time; we also tried the restaurant of the owner in Camara do Lobos and it was very good, nice view towards ocean and town. What you need to know: - the restaurant indicated as meeting point is right on the road facing the ocean, but its name is only written on shaky flags and if it's windy you don't see that. Take the number of the contact person with you, so you can call him if you have problems to find the meeting spot. - the road to the house itself is very steep and narrow, but you get used to do it with a car, even at night. - you have to be careful to not lock yourself out, as the front door can't be opened from outside with a handle. So once the keys are in the house, everybody is out and the wind shuts the door you have a problem (it didn't happen to us, but it's easy to happen). - pets are allowed and we appreciated that very much; please respect house and garden if you travel with a dog, so they don't change this rule... - you need to bring or buy tablets for the dishwasher, wastepaper bags and the basics for the kitchen (salt/pepper/sugar, oil/vinegar); there will be some bread, butter and jam upon arrival but the rest you need to buy and you can't reach a shop walking (a car is needed), so better buy groceries before you get there. - be careful roasting things in the kitchen, the fire alarm goes off very easily. There is a frame on the wall next to the alarm system that tells you how to switch it off, but once you are stressed you might not see that... the alarm is VERY noisy.

Everything at the villa was perfect: the house, the pool, the view, the service.... Our stay in Madeira was a great experience with the beautiful nature and the climate. But the weather... unfortunately we had much of rain and storm. That was bad luck. We are happy to be back next year...

Great stay and warm welcome from the owner and Manager. Wonderful location with an amazing garden and pool. The property with Madeira style is very well decorated with a gorgeous view on sea. Very easy and confortable access to the pebble beach. Good place for snorkeling
