Set in the sun-drenched hills above Calheta, an old barn has been transformed into this new contemporary modern and chic 3-bed air-conditioned villa, with everything you may want for a great family holiday.

Built to high standards, and very well furnished in a modern style, it features a great open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen with large sliding glass doors that transforms it into an indoor/outdoor social area that encompasses outdoor dining and barbecue, large swimming pool, deck and garden, with lovely views over the countryside and to the sea.

The optionally heated pool is set in the garden with a surrounding deck with sun-beds and is surrounded by a high traditional stone wall.

The electric gate opens up to a carport, sufficient for 2 cars. Off the main door is the ground floor bedroom and stairs lead up to the main living area, where there are a further two bedrooms. All bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms and air-conditioning.

A bread van passes daily with a lovely selection of fresh bread, and an easily walk-able 270m (or even shorter via a pathway) will bring you to a local snack-bar and mini-market, perfect for those day to day essentials.

A pharmacy and café/mini-market is less than 800m below and the resort of Calheta, with its beach, branded supermarket, bank and chemist is a short 5 Km drive away. There are a selection of restaurants around the Calheta area.

Funchal is an easy 40 minute drive away, and access to the Madeira mountains and countryside is easy.

There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside.

Swimming pool heating:

Location Description:

Perfect for the day to day essentials, within easy walking distance only 270m away (or even shorter via a pathway) there is a café/restaurant and a mini-market. An 800m drive will bring you to a further café/restaurant and mini-market, and a pharmacy can be found 600m away. It is 4 Km to the resort town of Calheta, with its man-made golden sandy beach. Here you will, find a selection of cafés, restaurants, a larger branded supermarket, the marina (boat trips can be arranged), banks and a chemist. A 5-minute drive will take you to either of the two surfing meccas of Jardim do Mar and Paul do Mar, at sea level and with trendy café-bars (try the caipirinhas and mojitos). Funchal is an easy 35-minute drive and the airport less than 50 minutes along the motorway

<p><span>We had two weeks at this amazing house. If you are a nervous driver then perhaps it's not for you as the roads in the village are very narrow and the access is a bit tight and on a steep hill but apart from that it was perfection. The home itself is well equipped and had a very luxurious modern feel to it. We did a lot less sightseeing than we were planning as we didn't really want to leave it. We were personally checked in and out by the lovely dalila which was a very nice touch. The pool and outside space was spectacular with superb views. It was everything it appeared to be in the advertising photographs and details. We ( two couples) loved it and would return in a heartbeat.</span></p>

3 Month of Relaxation
<p><span>Where do I start! Madeira is a majestic island and this house is a quiet, clean, spacious and calming place. it was great to have three bedrooms with their own private ensuites. It made our guests feel comfortable and gave them plenty of privacy. The salt water pool and the grounds were well kept and the cleaning staff were very flexible to meet our schedule. What we loved was drinking our coffee every morning in the beautiful ocean view outdoors which we never got tired of. You can't hear the noise of the streets as the house is in a very peaceful area. The house is conveniently located a short drive from a well stocked supermarket and a pleasant walk away to the town square. The whole place made us feel disconnected from the busy city we came from. Norberta was very nice, easy to talk to from the day I booked and was very responsive when we needed anything. We fell in love with Madeira and we will definitely be coming back again!</span></p>

Fantastic villa with great pool. Strongly recommended
We loved this villa. The pool is great, there are lots of small lizards living in the garden walls which kept the family interested. Beds large and comfortable. Stylish villa. Kitchen could do with one or two extra bits - a colander and some sharp knives but otherwise very well equipped. Neighbourhood peaceful, the local shop is easily walkable and the restaurant next to the shop serves simple but well cooked food - if you want an evening meal I’d suggest you speak to the shop/restaurant owner in advance but he is very accommodating. Plenty to see and do.

Tolles, modernes Haus in den Bergen
Haus: Das Haus ist sehr modern und gut ausgestattet. Es gibt 3 Schlafzimmer mit bequemen Doppelbetten und jedes Schlafzimmer hat ein eigenes Badezimmer, was sehr angenehm ist. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet mit Induktionsherd, Backofen, Microwelle und Kühl- Gefrierschrank. Eine herkömmliche Kaffeemaschine gibt es allerdings nicht. Nur eine Kapselmaschine. Pool und Aussenbereich: Der Pool war auch ohne Poolheizung angenehm warm. Es gibt eine Plane, die man über den Pool ziehen kann, wenn man ihn nicht benutzt, dadurch hält das Wasser die Temperatur und kühlt nicht aus. Auf der einen Seite sind Stufen, was wir für unsere Kinder (4+5) zum Reingehen sehr praktisch fanden. Zum Schwimmen war dadurch allerdings etwas wenig Platz. Der Aussenbereich ist toll ausgestattet mit Liegen, Esstisch und bequemen Korbmöbeln. Für die Sonnenschirme war es meist zu windig, so dass wir sie kaum nutzen konnten. Dadurch gibt es mittags fast keinen Schatten. Ein Grill (super) und eine Aussendusche (haben wir nie benutzt) sind auch vorhanden. Lage: Das Haus befindet sich in fast 400 Metern Höhe. Die Fahrt dorthin ist sehr abenteuerlich durch sehr enge und steile Gassen zum Teil ohne Ausweichmöglichkeiten. Wir waren immer froh, wenn wir ohne Gegenverkehr dort angekommen sind. Durch die hohe Lage war es am Haus deutlich kühler als unten am Meer. Morgens und abends war es uns meistens (trotz Juni) zu kalt zum draußen Sitzen. Bzw. nur mit Strickjacke oder Decke. Die Häuser drum herum standen zum Teil leer, daher war es sehr ruhig. Sonstiges: Bei unserer Ankunft wurden wir mit einem Essenspaket überrascht. Das war wirklich klasse. Es gab Brot, Butter, Käse, Milch, Marmelade und Wein. Wir hatten das Haus für 2 Wochen gemietet und nach 1 Woche wurden Handtücher und Bettwäsche gewechselt. Das hatten wir bisher noch in keinem Ferienhaus.

Calheta Heights
We had a lovely time at the villa it was perfect for a relaxing holiday. The views were beautiful and it was great to have the private pool.The villa was clean and well equipped.The only niggles were the pool was only just warm enough and we found the pillows hard. Would definately go back though.

Tolle Lage, sehr schöne Villa
Der erste Eindruck ist wirklich hervorragend. Delila stand nachts um 4 Uhr auf um uns um diese Uhrzeit in der Villa zu empfangen. Sie hatte viele Tipps zum Sightseeing und Essen gehen .Sie ist wirklich eine Perle. Leider hat der Besitzer der Villa vergessen, dass man so ein Haus auch mit besserer Qualität in der Inneneinrichtung ausstatten sollte. Sehr schön auch das Starter-Set zum Anfang mit Brot, Butter, Milch,Kaffee usw... und 200 m weiter gleich eine gute Einkaufsmöglichkeit und Essensmöglichkeit. Es empfiehlt sich kleine Autos zu mieten, die Anfahrt und Einfahrt zum Haus sind sehr eng, wie überall auf Madeira. Wir hatten in dieser einen Woche nur einmal trübes Wetter, aber kein Regen. Der Pool ist klasse und bei 26°C lässt er sich hervorragend nutzen. Es gibt auch genügend Handtücher und Decken für alle Jahreszeiten geeignet.

Perfektes Ferienhaus mit traumhafter Aussicht
Das Ferienhaus ließ keine Wünsche offen: ein liebevoll eingerichtetes Wohnzimmer mit Ringsum-Verglasung (Aussicht vom Sonnenauf- bis Sonnenuntergang), eine integrierte Küche komplett ausgestattet, 3 Schlafzimmer mit bequemen Betten, viel Stauraum und tollen Bädern, aber vor allem einem beheizten Pool, der von uns täglich genutzt wurde. Wir (4 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder, 1 Baby) haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden bestimmt wiederkommen. Empfangen wurden wir von Delila, einer bezaubernden Dame, die uns zum Start mit allem ausgerüstet hatte, was wir für den ersten Tag benötigten: Brot, Butter, Aufstrich, Käse, Milch, Kaffee, Wasser, Obst und einer Fl. Rotwein; sogar der Spülmaschinenreiniger fehlte nicht. Das haben wir noch in keinem Ferienhaus erlebt. Sie war bei Fragen sofort zur Stelle, besorgte das gesamte Equipment für das Baby, behob jedes Problem (Kinderkrankheiten eines Neubaus) und gab als Einheimische darüberhinaus viele gute Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt. Einziger Nachteil: Die Zufahrtsstraße zum Haus und zur (großen)Garage (für 2 Fahrzeuge), denn die Fahrt dorthin in einer extrem schmalen Straße mit Gegenverkehr und die Einfahrt in die Garage (kostete uns ein Rücklicht) waren jedes Mal ein Abenteuer.

Beautiful, comfortable, well equipped house with fantastic views
There's only good things to say about this newly renovated house. Absolutely spotless, very comfortable, well equipped kitchen all to a high standard. The pool and terrace area are lovely and have stunning views down to the sea. Great place to sit with a glass of wine to watch the sun go down. The basic grocery items and wine which were there when we arrived were much appreciated and a thoughtful touch. We will definitely stay here next time we are on the island
