Bella Vita - Check-in and Driving Instructions

Please print these driving instructions and have them with you when you arrive in Madeira.

If you have a car and are driving to your villa or apartment, please follow these instructions. Using GPS will take you via old and less easy roads and unusual locations:

  • Leaving the airport, take the motorway (Via Rápida) West in the direction of Funchal and after this to Ribeira Brava. Travel for 34. Km.


Airport Ribeira Brava

  • When you reach the end of the motorway (approximately 35 minutes) keep on the right hand lane and follow the signs to Ribeira Brava - Ponta do Sol.
  • The slip road will lead you to a roundabout. Take the first exit to Ribeira Brava and drive towards the sea for 1.4 km. You will reach another roundabout. Take the 1st exit into the tunnel and you will now carry on for 3.9 km until you reach the roundabout of Ponta do Sol.

Prazeres 1

  • At the end of the tunnel, you will reach another roundabout; take the 2nd exit, signposted Ponta do Sol, and drive through another tunnel. At the end, continue along the coastal road, and you will enter another tunnel. At the end, continue along the coastal road, and you will enter another tunnel.

  • At the end of this tunnel you will come to the roundabout of Ponta do Sol; on the left you will find a petrol station and mini market. Take the 2nd exit into the next tunnel and drive for 2,8Km.

  • At the end of the tunnel, at the roundabout, turn sharply right into the next tunnel (signposted Calheta).
  • At the roundabout (1.6 km), take the first turn-off, signposted to Calheta, and drive through the next tunnel for 1.8 km.
  • Reaching the next roundabout, take the second exit following signs to Calheta and through another tunnel until you reach the Calheta roundabout (2.5 km).
  • Go straight across (2nd exit), signposted Prazeres (don't turn left into Calheta), and enter a further tunnel, driving for 2.3km.

  • When reaching the next roundabout, where you will find a BP Petrol Station, take the second turnoff indicated "Prazeres" and "Mercado Agricultores".
  • You will pass through the Tunnel dos Moinhos and the Tunnel Jardim Pelado.
  • At the roundabout (where you find a BP petrol station on your right), go straight across, following the signs for Prazeres/Mercado Agrícola.

  • Continue in the direction of Porto Moniz, through the Tunnel Lombo da Velha.
  • After the tunnel, continue along until the next roundabout.
  • Take the first exit signed posted "Lombada dos Cedros" and immediately after at the T-Junction, turn right.
  • Follow the road for approximately 280m and, just before the church, you will find "Bar Gomes". Turn right here and descend.
  • Go down this road for approximately 600m, passing a turn-off to the left and another to the right. You will come to a small stone house on the left with a stone driveway just next to it. You have arrived at Bella Vita - turn into the driveway and through the grey gates.
