Vila da Portada - Check-in and Driving Instructions

Please print these driving instructions and have them with you when you arrive in Madeira.

If you have a car and are driving to your villa or apartment, please follow these instructions. Using GPS will take you via old and less easy roads and unusual locations:

  • Take the Via Rápida (motorway) from the airport in the direction of Funchal.

  • As you approach Exit 11 ("S. Roque & Monte"), keep to the right lane and slow down. Leave the Via rapida at exit 11, signposted "S. Roque and Monte".

  • Follow the slip road round, turning first right, then at the T-junction turn left signposted "Monte". Continue for 1.4 km until you reach the roundabout and take the first right, signposted "Monte & S. Roque".

  • Drive up the hill and onwards for approximately 1.2 km until you reach a wide crossroad.

  • Turn left uphill, signposted Monte & Farmácia

  • Continue for 1,8Km and as you reach a wide bend to the left (below the pink Hospital), turn right, signposted "Sanatórios & Babosas".

Continue on this bendy road for 400m, passing a small bridge. Slow down as you approach your destination.

  • A little further along, and you come to a small downhill straight. 2/3 of the way along the small straight, you will come across the grey metal gate of Vila da Portada (no 17) on your left.
