Cliffscape - Check-in and Driving Instructions

Please print these driving instructions and have them with you when you arrive in Madeira.

If you have a car and are driving to your villa or apartment, please follow these instructions. Using GPS will take you via old and less easy roads and unusual locations:

  • Leaving the airport, take the motorway (Via Rápida) West in the direction of Funchal and after this to Ribeira Brava. Travel for 34. Km.

Airport Ribeira Brava

  • When you reach the end of the motorway (approximately 35 minutes) keep on the right hand lane and follow the signs to Ribeira Brava - Ponta do Sol.
  • The slip road will lead you to a roundabout. Take the first exit to Ribeira Brava and drive towards the sea for 1,4Km. You will reach another roundabout. Take the 1st exit into the tunnel and you will now carry on for 3,9Km until you reach the roundabout of Ponta do Sol.

Calheta 1

  • At the end of the tunnel you will reach another roundabout; take the 2nd exit , signposted Ponta do Sol and drive through another tunnel. At the end, carry on along the coastal road and you will enter another tunnel. At the end, carry on along the coastal road and you will enter another tunnel.
  • At the end of this tunnel you will come to the roundabout of Ponta do Sol; on the left you will find a petrol station and mini market. Take the 2nd exit into the next tunnel and drive for 2,8Km.
  • At the end of the tunnel, at the roundabout, turn sharp right into the next tunnel (signposted Calheta).

    Calheta 2
  • At the roundabout (1,6Km), take the second turn-off, signposted to Calheta, drive through the next tunnel for 1,8Km and at the next roundabout go straight across, signposted Prazeres (don't turn left into Calheta) 
  • Continue along the main road and you will see a right exit to Estreito Da Calheta - DO NOT take this exit. Continue for approximately 300 metres and you will come to a roundabout.
  • Take the third exit signposted to Farmácia, Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar.

    Calheta 4
  • Drive past the Pharmacy (Farmácia) on your right, drive past the first turning on your left and slow down. Immediately after, turn left (next to a one way traffic sign) down a narrow street sign posted Vereda Girão de Lá, just under 300m from the roundabout.

  • Continue descending this narrow street, then bearing left and climbing slightly. At around 300m from where you turned left into this street you will see the drive for Cliffscape on your right. Turn right into this driveway and the villa will be in front of you at the end. 

 Cliffscape
